Dear people,
Today, writing code has become easy enough that making apps is effectively a form of creative self-expression. It feels very difficult, still, to find partners in crime, to play calendar tetris with my friends, or even to find folks to jam with and start a company.
Though we’ve dramatically lowered the cost of making things, we’ve barely reduced the cost of forming groups capable of making them, a problem that I suspect will become more difficult in a world of abundance.
Even over the last ten years, I’ve witnessed far too much creative potential collapse because the right configuration of people and capital couldn’t be assembled in time. Ideas may persist, but individual and collective motivations have expiration dates.
We're on a mission to scale up our capacity to identify and form opportunities, for anyone, across any context, even when the information necessary is fragmented across people and can't always be disclosed publicly.
Our interest is in the moments before something exists: when there are only people with ideas and hopes and dreams and constraints and the possibility that they might all come together. That, to us, is what company means.
To company is to accompany – to walk alongside someone before you know where a road leads. A company is only one possible outcome. A research collaboration is another. Or a group trip.
We want En Compagnie to make all of that dramatically easier: to help people find the company they need to do things that otherwise might never happen.
